The climate of Hanoi is characterised by hot, humid summers and cool winters similar to Mediterranean Italy or parts of Florida in the U.S. Hanoi has a single rainy season which falls during the south monsoon between May and September. Rainfall is rare and always light during the October to April. Visitors should check what they need in terms of clothes depending upon the time of year. Leisure clothes are frequently highly coloured and business is dome in dark coloured tailored suits. Whatever the attire is always topped off by a polite and welcoming smile.
