Weather and Climat

When is the best time to visit?

Before you buy a fare to Vietnam , you have to research the weather and climate in your visit time. Because of its diverse geography, the climate in Vietnam varies greatly from north to south with three distinct climatic zones. Tropical monsoons occur from October to April in the Center, and from May to September, in the North and South. It is almost totally dry throughout the rest of the year. It can get particularly hot, though, all year round, but the north has a cool period between October and April. Temperatures across the country can reach up to 40C in the height of the hot and rainy season (May to September), but the northern highlands and Hanoi can often seem cold and wet in the winter.

There is no 'ideal time' to visit Vietnam as a whole, because at any time of the year somewhere will be in the Sun. High season is from September to March, but bad weather can disrupt travel in the center of the country during this period, especially from September to December. For the beaches in the center of Vietnam (such as Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang) it is best to go between May and August. Autumn is the best time to visit Ha long Bay as the skies are clearest.

Clothing requirements:
Loose, natural fabrics all year, but warm clothes are needed in the highlands, and during the winter of Northern Vietnam. Raincoats are essential during the rainy season.
